If you are using this room for photography then I'm not sure I would add curtains, although they would certainly warm up the look of the room, as would an area rug. I know that whatever you decide to do that it will look smashing! xox
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3233955033219125564.post-56885838228543042014-03-10T11:20:12.983-04:002014-03-10T11:20:12.983-04:00You always do something lovely Penny and I've ...You always do something lovely Penny and I've no doubt you will this time too. But I do know what you mean about some rooms that you just can't get "right". My first thought when I see that space is to remove the blinds and perhaps some panels from floor to ceiling at the edges of the windows. It looks like an incredible view and almost like you are in a tree house. I could also see putting the chair in the corner where the bookcase is so you could face the view and perhaps put a built in window seat under the windows that are open to store your books. You've got lots of ideas to work with I'm sure. I'll look forward to seeing how it all come out.Suehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07298632258557474170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3233955033219125564.post-11782340140067310572014-03-08T09:59:57.537-05:002014-03-08T09:59:57.537-05:00Your little room is wonderful! You could 'decorate' with some vintage cameras or some of your photography since it's your photo studio. There's a lot you can do - and I know you will. Can't wait to see more. I painted the walls a grayish blue, kind of dark and I couldn't believe the difference. It kinda soaked up some of the brightness. And I loved the white trim around the windows, it made a nice contrast. I agree with many, a nice area rug and some plants and of course a red bookcase! And yes, an area rug to tie it all together. I agree with the comment that wicker chairs would look better than heavy upholstered ones. I am undecided if curtains would be an improvement. Sometimes just the blinds are enough. At any rate, the room is adorable and having a cozy space to read is the best! My take - for what it's worth - no curtains (especially if you plan to continue photography in there), but yes a tall living plant in between the windows. How about a round rug to soften the rectangle, a plain color pulled from that great chair/ottoman with maybe a border, but no fringe! Above the windows hang some round plates, again to soften all those sharp angles and make the window less stark. Keep the three art pieces but hang in a straight line, about the height of the one on the right. Yes, paint the bookcase red and stand the books up straight or lay some in flat stacks and add some decorative accessories on the stacks so the bookcase looks less utilitarian.

I can't believe I'm telling you all this - you who decorate so beautifully always!

Sorry I didn't have time to do Tasty Tuesday this week with all the mess going on here - maybe next time.

Love ya -MaryMaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11915239653283205065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3233955033219125564.post-66982675151706938612014-03-06T16:52:42.498-05:002014-03-06T16:52:42.498-05:00What a sweet space Penny...I would add an area rug...What a sweet space Penny...I would add an area rug to make it more cozy.
