Looking Out My Backdoor

Doo, doo, doo looking out my back door.  Does anyone remember that song by Credence Clearwater
Revival?

This is looking out my back door here in the Asheville NC area.

If you look at my last post, you can see the blue pot above from a couple of days ago, to get a reference on how much snow we got the last 24 hours.

Now, looking out my front door.

So this is where I will be today.....

How is the weather where you are?  Are you ready for spring?

  2. WOW, we were thinking about retiring in NC to get away from all this snow and cold.

  3. I put up the same post last month LMHO - looking out my back door at a pool covered in the white stuff.
I'm so ready for Spring - it's enough now!
    XOXO

  4. Hi Penny, We've got an equal amount of snow on the ground here but the sun is shining and it is supposed to get up to 40 degrees today. Yippee!!! For some reason, this winter has been colder than normal and I'm anxious for spring but it won't arrive here til mid-May. However, we are going to the islands in April so I'll get my warm weather fix there.
    Stay warm!

  5. I heard y'all got 15 inches. Wow! We measured just 4 1/2 which is more than we have had any many years!

  6. Like you, we're housebound for a few days - and I will love it as long as we don't lose our power! It blipped this morning but is OK so far - I took a very early shower and washed/dried hair just in case it shuts down later! Freezing rain now on top of about 4" of snow here - but could also get more snow this afternoon! I've put lots of snacks out and have spent far too much time taking pics of feathered friends and ravenous squirrels!

Your neighborhood certainly appears different from when we visited, haha! Stay off those slippery hills and be safe. Here's to snuggly hours by the fire with plenty of heart-warming liquids!!!!

    Hugs - Mary

  7. Wow Penny, it's crazy isn't it?? At least we have been able to keep power, which was my greatest fear, that and trees falling. I had to smile at the comment about retiring to NC because where we live is mostly retirees who actually live in Florida, then come here only for the summer as it gets so cold. What a lovely view you have out your front door!! Stay warm:-)

  8. We have rain in the valleys and snow in the mountains. Just the way I like it!!! It's going to be 54 here this weekend which is unseasonal for us. Stay warm and dry. It's a good thing you have such a lovely environment to be snowed in with.
    Enjoy your beautiful home.

  9. Mercy that looks cold!

We are sunny and expecting the 60s today. Finally it feels like Texas. :)

  10. Oh. My. Goodness. Such a lot of snow. Staying cozy in front of the fire seems like a very good plan.

It's rainy here. Signs of early spring - leaf buds swelling, a few sharp points of tulips poking out from the ground.

  11. Your photos show a winter wonderland and yes I remember that song; my dh and I saw Creedence Clearwater Revival live in concerts several times.
I am planting seeds a few at a time. No snow here.

  13. Yes, I remember CCR!
The snow is beautiful, but I expect you are ready for Spring just as I am.
Enjoy your time by the cozy fire!

  17. I "do" remember that song. Sounds like you are smart to be sitting by the fire Penny.

I made my husband promise me I would never have to be cold again after spending a couple of winters in the Poconos and, bless his heart, he as kept that promise. Wish you were down here with me in you-know-where :)

  18. Snowing today. My grandson and I have been looking at your yard and we both agree that you have as much snow there as we do here. I envy you the fireplace, though our fake one is doing pretty well.

  20. We got nearly 14 inches of snow last night and then it stopped, only to start up again at noon... probably have 2 or 3 more inches by now and it's STILL coming down. Love that shot of your neighborhood... gorgeous area!

  21. Gawd, I hate snow! I don't blame you for staying indoors by the fire. A book and a cup of tea would be perfect with it. Take care and God bless, xoxoxo Carol

  22. I am still in awe of all the snow. The last time we had a snow like that in NC was about three years ago and I remember because I couldn't go to work for 2 days. Hope you are staying warm!

  23. Hi Penny,
Your view looks so beautiful. I have to say when it started to snow here in Winston Salem, I felt right at home. I love the snow.

  24. Hi Penny. Lots of snow here too. It was simply beautiful, but it's already started to melt. We just stayed inside. I made bread, soup, chili and we did lots of reading and watching the Olympics.

  25. Your backyard snow is beautiful but I've changed my mind about NC as a possible future retirement place years down the road as it will still have snow, ha! No can do.

Any idea how I can make your chicken pot pies w/ a gluten free crust?

Yes, I remember that song so that puts us in the same age group, ha!

  26. Can you believe this snowy weather? It's been fun but I'm ready to get back to work tomorrow. For some reason I keep cooking and eating instead of working on projects or cleaning house.

Hope you've enjoyed your snow days with that warm fire and gorgeous views.

  27. Now that's a lot of snow!! Hope you are able to stay inside, eating good food and just enjoying the view.

  28. Yep, soooo ready for spring! The power came back on the morning and we woke up to several inches of snow. But most of it is gone - it was a sunny fairly warm day. So hopefully we can get out of the house tomorrow. We have cabin fever!

  29. WOW that is alot of snow and wayyy more than we have here in Southern Alberta! I am so ready for spring and non icy streets to get back to walkin in the outdoors,,,have a cozy evening!

  30. That's a LOT of snow for NC! Here in northern IL, we've had a record breaking winter for snow AND bitter cold but it finally started warming up yesterday. Today it was actually 25 degrees which seemed liked a heat wave!

  31. Stay safe and cozy! And I think we'll all enjoy spring this year. Mimi

  33. It's Christmas-card pretty around your house - but what a surprise to have that snow in your part of the world at this time of year! Stay warm and safe inside!

  34. Yow! That is a pile of snow. It is pretty in pictures but I wouldn't like to deal with it. On the other hand, here in NoCA we are still dealing with drought even though we did have a few days of rain.

  35. You got quite a bit of snow, Penny! I am so ready for Spring it isn't even funny anymore! I'm hoping most of ours will melt this coming week. It is supposed to be warmer and we have some rain for Sunday or Monday.

  36. Me again, just wanted to say Yes I remember that song! We listened to a lot of Credence Clearwater Revival back in the day. Also wanted to tell you I am doing a post tomorrow about comfort food and your chicken pot pies will be one of the posts I feature.

  37. Oh dear, you did get quite a bit, of course, yours will no doubt be gone by next week and you'll be telling us you're ready to plant the garden. #jealous. ;>)
It is (still) snowing here today, but I have a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the love of my life and I'll be cooking a special surf n turf dinner for just the two of us tonight so it's all good. Looking forward to spring? I am counting the days! 33 to be exact. I do remember that song!

  38. Oh that looks more like where we live in Utah than North Carolina! That is a ton of snow. So glad you captured it in pictures! We have been warmer this week. We were supposed to have 5 days in a row of snow but it snowed in the mountains and rained in the valley which is just perfect!

  40. Penny, I do remember that song. Perfect for your snow day and the great pics. They are gorgeous and looks like you have a cozy spot by the fire.
We are heading in to the 70's through the weekend.
    Happy Valentine's Day.
