Last January or February (I can't remember!) I found a round antique table to coordinate with another one we already had. The top needed a little TLC, but I let it go because we had so much else going on fixing up this home. Here you can see the two tables in the living room.
Well, a little while back, someone spilled some liquid on the table and it seeped under a book that was sitting on the table. It wasn't discover immediately and I ended up with this.
Since the entire table did not need to be refinished, I only refinished the top. I used painter's tape to tape plastic around the side edges so the base would not be damaged by dripping stripper. Next I applied the stripper to remove the old poly finish, as well as the stain, following manufacturer's instructions.
Once all of the finish was removed, I applied three coats of mahogany stain, following manufacturer's instructions. Once the stain was dry, I sanded the top smooth and added several coats of poly, sanding with fine steel wool in between each coat.
See how beautiful it turned out?
Something else that is now beautiful in my home are my sparkling clean windows! Knowing that I will be spending a lot of time in the house this winter, I am so glad I have clean windows to let as much sunshine is as possible.
Today the kitchen tile back splash is being installed. It is looking great! When it is all finished, I promise to share pictures with you.
