Finally! My kitchen back splash is finished. Two things you need to know.
1. It is very hard to get a good picture of my kitchen, because there are windows at one end, and an opening to the dining room with windows at the other end.
2. This post is picture heavy. You have been duly warned :-).
The first picture is taken from the lounge area of the kitchen.
Below is a "BEFORE" picture, without the new tumbled travertine back splash. It had a short granite back splash that matched the counter.
Here is a close up of the back splash. We chose to have the tile laid in a brick pattern. Unlike my last house, where we did a harlequin pattern. This time we decided to remove the short granite back splash before tiling. In our last house, we left it there. You can see that here. I like this look better, without the granite short back splash.
I love the way the colors in the tumbled travertine back splash pick up the colors in the granite.
I picked up this old vintage red scale a few months back while antiquing. I keep garlic and campari tomatoes in it.
I have had this vintage pig bread board forever. We just hung it up over the kitchen doorway the other day.
A view looking into the living room from the lounge area of the kitchen.
So, there you have it. I love the way the back splash turned out. My kitchen feels much more warm and welcoming.
