I finished painting the dining room. Yeah! Here is what it looks like today. Just a note to say that my good camera is packed in a box somewhere (I can't find it) so this was taken with my point and shoot.
Just a reminder, below of how it looked the day we bought the house. The walls were salmon, and there was stained white carpet on the floor.
We used our same French country dining furniture from our previous home. The walls are actually painted the same color too. It is Belgian Waffle by Olympic Paints from Lowe's. We really loved that color in our previous home and knew it would work wonderful in our new home too. I still have more pictures to hang in the dining room. That will happen when the rest of the house is painted and we figure out where all of the pictures are going.
A few post back, I mentioned changing out the chandelier and showed you some inspiration pictures, here.
Here is a close up of the one we ended up buying.
We actually bought another one just like it to hang in our foyer. When we get that painted and have a chance to hang it, I will do a post.
I bought some flowers today for this post. I think they look a little French Country/Tuscan Christmas like.....
I still need to get or make curtains for the dining room, but that will be another post down the line when time and money allow.
Today, we actually have professional painters coming to paint the ceilings in the living room, den, master bedroom, hall, guest bedroom, guest bath and the walls of the TALL living room, foyer and stairway to the bonus room. They are too tall for me to paint safely. The painters will take until about Thursday to finish. Then I will paint the walls of the hallway, master bedroom, master bath, den, guest room and guest bath. Sounds like I am going to be busy into the New Year, doesn't it?

Yes, it sounds like you will be painting for quite some time. Good idea to pay someone to do the high parts. I hate painting ceilings. Kills my neck. Love the dining room and great chandy.
Whew! I can't even imagine the hubub around your new home right now. I'll bet you are glad you don't have to do all those rooms yourself! The dining room is so sunny and pretty, I love it:>) The chandelier is gorgeous too. Are you going to be able to even put up a Christmas tree this year? I don't know if I would attempt it at all in your situation. Hang in there, you'll soon have everything in order and it will feel like home:>)
Good morning Penny, Your dining room looks beautiful. The chandy is gorgeous. The Penny touch is all the dining room needed. I love the dishes on your hutch.
I am relieved to know that painters will be doing the hard job of painting the ceiling etc. Knowing you, I think you will be busy longer than that.
We leave on our trip to Europe this Thursday and we can't wait. However, I still have some serious packing to do. Yikes.
Thank you for your Christmas wishes. Same to you my dear blogging friend.
Love, Jeanne
Your dining room looks fabulous. I too am painting mine. I am trying to rub on and rub off paint over wallpaper and it gets to my arm quickly. I had hoped to have it all done for the holidays but I keep finding other things to do when I take a break. Oh well, it will be there tomorrow.
Wishes for a dining room filled with great food, great friends and laughter.
Enjoy.
Looks wonderful Penny!
What a difference, so much warmer looking. Glad to hear you will have some painting help.
Darla
You really warmed up the room! It looks beautiful!

Great choice in color. The room does have a Tuscan look and I really like it.
We have high ceilings too and never going to try to paint the walls in those rooms ourselves... just not safe.

Oh Penny! I sighed a sigh of relief immediately because now it looks like you! What a wonderful difference. Just lovely in every way. I really like the chandelier as well. Yes, a busy time for you and I am glad that the painters are coming to do the tough stuff. No sense in being miserable with a stiff neck at the very least. It's going to be great!
Just gorgeous Penny. So sunny, bright and cheerful. My kind of colors. You are so busy! in a fun way though for sure.
Ohm y you will surely be painted out Pam. It will all be worth it in the end though. Your dining room is so pretty. That chandy is to die for!:)
You made a big difference in the dining room. It looks so pretty now! Love your new chandelier. I know you will be happy to get all of the painting done so you can concentrate on the fun decorating part.
Your dining room looks fabulous Penny, I LOVE your chandy!! Yes, I think you will be painting until the New Year but it will be so worth it in the end!
I love it! A house isn't a home until we add our own touches. I love the new chandelier!
Your pretty dining room looks just like YOU. It's lovely and so French Country. The new light...LOVE. IT.
Bless your heart...I just HATE painting but have always done a lot of it.
As soon as we get boxes and some furniture taken over to the new spot, we have to paint several rooms, too, before putting it on the market....o, and CLEAN WINDOWS. :)
Merry Christmas...
I definitely see the teamwork of P&K are in full throttle here! Looking fabulous, and the chandelier is prefect for your dining room Penny. That is a wonderful wall color for the French country look - glad you used it again, and of course no surprises when you know excatly what it will end up being AND that you already love it!
So glad you're not doing all those ceilings dear - that would be such a huge and somewhat dangerous job! Walls are work enough - and come Spring that's what I hope to have time to tackle myself here, plus furniture!
Thanks for stopping by as always. Just dropped B at RDU again - in Dallas all week - and I have a ton of stuff to do before we leave for England next week!
Love and hugs - Mary
The dining room looks beautiful, Penny! I love the wall color and the chandelier...gorgeous!
Hi Penny! Oh, your dining room is lovely and looks just like you! Your new chandy is gorgeous and so unique. I love that! Your home is going to be gorgeous. Now take care of yourself and don't over do. That's s good thing getting painters over to paint your ceilings.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh, Penny, it's wonderful! Really lovely. I thought I recognized the color on the walls; it's such a warm, cheerful color ~ I love it. And the chandelier is perfect. Ripping up the carpet was definitely the way to go; I just love hardwood floors. Gorgeous room. :)
Your dining room turned out so nicely, Penny...love the color of the walls and the chandelier. Can't wait to see how everything continues to come together!
Wonderful!! Great job, it looks wonderful and what a transformation.

I love that color so much more than the salmon. It really warms up the room! Beautiful!~Hugs, Patti
I love your new dining room. And it looks like it belongs to you now! Can't wait to see more. You're going to be tired of painting before you get done but, then, you've done this before so you already know that!
~Adrienne~
Gosh, I wish you were here to "whisper" my house!!!!! I'm terrible at painting. I do need to get some done but will have to hire a few walls to be done by professionals as they are too high for me to do. My big question of the day is, do you do baseboards or the walls first.
Your home is going to be lovely!
Looking good, Penny. Can't wait to see the rest of the house when it is finished.
How wise you are to get someone else in to do the tall ceilings and fourteen foot walls in the living room. Very scary to climb ladders to do that kind of work.
Take care and God bless, love, Carol
You are whispering this house into real beauty, Penny. The colour of the dining room walls is so lovely with the rug and the warm wood tones of your table and chairs. It's just beautiful.
I just love your taste! Yellow is my favorite color, and I think it makes a room feel so happy and cheerful! I can't wait to see all your exciting updates.
This is so much fun watching your home take shape.
Way to go!
You are going to be busy through the New Year and beyond.
I love the color that you used for your dining room and also the chandelier that you purchased.
Everything is looking beautiful already. I love the way your kitchen and dining room look.
Karen
You've got it looking just like home, Penny. You know I love the paint color, and since it is perfect for you, you were right to use it again.
The chandelier is awesome, and the dining room looks gorgeous. I know it must feel wonderful to be making all of this progress.
Beautiful, Penny! I love this color! It looks like it gives a warm glow to the room, too. Great light fixture! It does sound like you've got a lot of painting to do, but I'm sure you will feel a great sense of satisfaction as you complete each room.
Penny your dining room is beautiful! I love seeing you transform a home!
Your dining room is beautiful and the colour is gorgeous!
Bravo! The color, light fixture and your exquisite taste reigns supreme! Eager to see the rest of your beautiful home unfold...
Oh my goodness you may be painting forever! Sounds like a huge job to me. I'm not sure I would be up to that so I'm filled with admiration. :o)
Love the color of your dining room! Good luck with all the painting...would you like to come over and finish my bathrooms?!
Penny,
Love the color that you went with...good idea to hire someone to do the tall areas.
Blessings,
Linda
I hope you get to take a break for Christmas Day!

Penny looks so homey and wonderful! You certainly are wasting no time getting settled! I love a freshly painted house! We begin ours in the new year!Hubby is going to attempt the high ceilings..Yikes..
hugs
It's beginning to look a lot like you Penny. Love the colors you've chosen. Once I find a color I love, I stick with it. We have some of the same color walls in the mountains as we do in the condo and it makes me feel more at home either place.
Have a lovely weekend.
Sam
Your dining room looks gorgeous, Penny! It really is all you --comfortable, yet polished and colorful. I love it! I will not have all the decorating time to do much painting right away in my home in Colorado, but I'll keep notes of the colors you shose to keep in mind when I do. I'm glad you have professionals to do the hard spots. Take some time to sit back and enjoy!
Looks gorgeous Penny. You must be so happy to have a room done. And LOVE the view out of the window where you blog! Wow!!

Hey Penny ~ You asked whether that pattern on my dining room wall is a wallpaper or stencil; it is a stencil. It's one of those wall stencils that looks much harder than it really is. I found it online.
Love that paint color! Also love it when someone comes and paints the hard stuff! It's looking so good. Mimi
oooh gorgeous! LOVE that color. Belgian Waffle - I'll have to get a paint chip. In the photo it sort of looks like a softer version of the BM Squished Squash I used.
