From Stained Carpet To Beautiful Hardwood

The stained, worn cream colored carpet has been removed and the new hardwood floors have been laid.

The installers had to weave the new hardwood into the existing hard wood in some areas.  Then the existing and new wood had to be sanded and 3 coats of polyurethane had to be applied.

Here is what the new floors look like now.

Here it was before, with the carpet.

Another after shot, taken from the living room looking into the foyer.

Same shot before with the old carpet.

The den and sun room now with the wood floors.

The den and sun room floors before with carpet and tile.

The dining room now with wood floors.

I can already hear the house breathing easier...It had been left empty for two years.  I have been house whispering and the house is telling me that it loves it's new floors :-).

As I mentioned before, there is not enough time to get the house painted before we move in, but you can see some patching has been done to the walls in preparation for painting.

Today I will be at the new house cleaning from top to bottom.  Tuesday, Direct TV will be install the dish.  Friday, carpet cleaners will come and clean the bedroom carpets (they were still in good shape, and I do enjoy carpet in the bedroom).

We move one week from today.  I am taking the next several days off from blogging.  I will post after we get moved.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Beautiful floors. Reminds me of what we had when we built our house. We had the light carpet and only the foyer had wood and then years later that was all replaced with our current hardwoods. Have fun moving in and have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

I love hardwood floors and yours look great! I know they will serve you well after you move in. That was the best thing to do before you moved in all your furniture! Sounds like your plans are running smoothly. Hope everything goes well with your move too and you can manage to take some time to enjoy Thanksgiving in the process.

Absolutely gorgeous floors!
Did you use a small local company, or a big one that is national?? Would love to know who did it for future info. I dearly want wood floors....and we will in the future...just collecting info right now.

Beautiful! I love the before and after photos. Aren't hardwood floors beautiful??? Can't beat em. I love your entrance. It would be really pretty with a glass door that lets in the natural sunlight to bounce off your floors. Can't wait to see how you decorate.

Hi Penny, your photos of the floors (after)are stunning. I am so excited for you and this new home. It was my favorite you know.

My bedroom is bronze gold and shades of rose. I would not change it...at least for awhile. Smile.

Happy moving my dear friend. I miss your comments. However, I have been pretty bad about visiting lately. I am looking forward to some calm quiet winter days ahead.

Don't work too hard moving. Then I ask myself...WHAT!!! moving IS hard work. So be careful.
Love, Jeanne

Your wood floors look gorgeous! My present home has oak parquet wood floors which were my favorite feature of this older home. When we were house hunting I had to find a house with wood floors and had to pay more to buy one, but I love wood. Like you, I like my bedrooms will be all carpeted as I like that upstairs.
