This n That

Just a little post about This n That....

Today the sun is shining for the first time in several days.  I took this picture in my master bath today.

I have been working in the studio on a little table for my booth.  Here is a before picture.  I should have it done tomorrow.

While it was raining I also took some me time and flipped though some of my favorite decorating books.

What do you do in the winter when it is raining?
Welcome Home,
Penny

  1. Penny, Gorgeous orchid! Love the little table, too. Today the sun is finally out and I'm working on a new little project. Enjoy your books and the rain...if you need it.

  2. That orchid is so delicate and lovely. I knit...er crochet. Something, anything to keep the hands and mind busy. Now I am baking bread. That can't be good.

  4. Hi Penny! I love your orchid-it is just gorgeous!! I read and knit when it is raining in the winter time. Now if it was summer, I have been known to work in the garden when it is raining :)!

  5. It has been horrible here for days, too and finally pretty today. I painted a couple of small things and looked at my books.

  6. Yesterday was dreary, rainy and chilly. I watched from my office window, and I was glad I wasn't out in it.

    Your orchid is gorgeous.

  7. I usually curl up on the couch and look thru my books as well. Sometimes though I get the urge to clean everything. Can't wait to see the table!

  10. Penny, I love the little table. I do hope you will show it to us when you are finished. On dreary days, if I am home, I like to curl up with a book or take out the needles and knit. Hope you find the sun shining tomorrow. Bonnie

  12. It has been a busy week for me, but I am trying my best to soak up the rays of sunshine finally beaming down on us! Today and tomorrow are about all the sun we're going to get this week. I have been to dr appts (check-ups) and doing housework.

  13. Oh, how I love orchids! We had gorgeous, sunny weather here today. It was so welcomed after the lousy weather we've been having.

  15. Such a pretty orchid. And that fabric in the background is stunning. I tried to get some of that when you first mentioned it on the blog, but was unable to. Rats. Still love it!

Looking forward to seeing what the table will become.

  16. Your orchid is beautiful, Penny! A friend sent me an orchid plant recently in memory of my Mother and I hope I keep it growing and blooming.

I like to snuggle up with my cat and a good book on a rainy day :)

  18. Ahhh, the elusive sunshine of winter, all the more appreciated for its rarity:>)
I really want an orchid, are they hard to keep alive? Don't they have a reputation for being fussy?

  19. I forgot to say, I spend rainy days fluffing the house and dreaming up sewing projects.
Cute little table, the carving on the corners is going to look beautiful painted!

  21. Penny, cold and wet here today, but we are happy to have the rain. Spent the day inside visiting with a friend who is here from Boston. Tomorrow looks like more of the same so I'm going to snuggle in and stitch.
Eager to see the finished project. ~ Sarah

  22. My rainy day was mostly spent reading. Even with rain there is plenty of natural light in our sunroom and I love listening to rain fall on the skylights.

  24. Sun returned here too yesterday - reached 63 in the afternoon and I had to strip - just a layer or two, ha! ha! I bought fresh flowers at Trader Joe's to celebrate the sun and this morning am enjoying them here as the bright light comes in the windows.

The recent rainy days I hibernated, did chores around the house, made soup, and worked on my addiction - my blog of course!!!!!

Look forward to seeing your latest project dear Penny.

  25. Today is one of those gloomy days. We were going to take a break from the house, but have decided to wait until tomorrow when sunshine is promised.
The books look wonderful! Usually on days like today, I tend to look through books, read a bit, and nap.

  27. I love your bath and the orchid so sets it off. It's just beautiful. Well, this is our first winter in Arizona and it really hasn't rained at all here. But - I remember all the winters in Missouri and I would usually sit in the house and either do crafts or play on the computer or gripe and moan about the weather. I must say that I really love this Arizona weather (I'm not a cold weather girl). Yes, the summer was awfully hot, but the other 8 months of the year make it all worth it.

  29. When it rains in winter.....
-definitely start a pot of soup before the sun goes down
-make sure you serve it with homemade rolls or biscuits
-press cloth napkins to set a cheerful table
-light as many candles as you dare
-play happy music in the background
    - make sure to wear something cozy and pretty
-and nurse along a pot of tea all day long....

    It's the only way.

It's always a joy to stop by your home and see what you are up to!
I love the claw bathtub placed in front of that stained glass window!
I left an orchid full of blooms back home on the kitchen sill..I wonder if my neighbor is caring for it? Enjoy your weekend!

  33. Cute table Penny! Lovely orchid too. I would have no luck with those, as I am an avid plant killer.

  34. For the record, I clean on rainy days! Needless to say last week I was on a clean fest.

  35. What a beautiful orchid! It's a lovely picture. When it rains, I like to make sure the house is all clean and in order and then I indulge in a little baking and either watching a movie or two or snuggling in with a good book (or both).
