Fall Landscape

So how was your weekend?  Great I hope!

I thought I would show you one of my favorite paintings.  I love landscapes.  This one was done by a local artist here in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  We have had this for about 6 years.
It has been over a fireplace mantel in the past, but at this house it is in the dining room over a small cabinet.

Speaking of cabinets.  Kim at Savvy Southern Style has this same style cabinet and just did a fabulous makeover on it!  Check it out, HERE.

A little update on the French cabinet makeover I showed you a few posts back.  I still don't have the dark wax to finish the piece, but the good news is that it has been shipped to the stockist finally and I should have it by Wednesday.

Another update....the special staple remover tool for the makeover on the French settee has not arrived yet either, but it has been shipped.  So, my two major projects are still on hold.

I am off to buy the fabric for the settee...I am keeping my choice a secret until it is done.  Thanks for all of your help and advice on what fabric to choose!

Welcome Home,

  1. What a lovely picture above your cabinet. I had no idea that was the same cabinet that Kim had. Each of your cabinets have their own distinct personality, don't they? Can't wait to see your makeovers when they're complete.

  2. Beautiful painting Penny!

I can't wait to see what you do with the settee!

  3. I love the colors of your little cabinet, too. Thanks for sharing my link. Is yours from Home Goods, too?

  4. I love that picture Penny! You know I was at Joanne fabrics today and got myself one of those tools for pulling out the staples and the nails. It is in their upholstery department. I still have yet to get back to the post office but willplan to do so this afternoon.

  5. Beautiful painting Penny and I love the display you have on top of that cabinet! Martina

  6. I thought that cabinet looked familiar! I like the color of yours. I am looking forward to seeing your settee all's a lovely piece of furniture!

    All the best,

  7. Penny, that painting looks wonderful there! I love that cabinet and the way you decorated it!

  8. That is gorgeous Penny! I love the colors in that landscape..just perfect. Cute vignette too.

  9. Your landscape is a treasure for its subject, its size, and that it is done by a local artist. It's wonderful.

I like your pumpkins perched on candlesticks, too. Simple and lovely. Why even I could copy it! =)

  10. I have a settee that I need covered. Care to do two?

I love your cabinet and the painting...both very pretty!!

  11. Now I know I spend too much time reading blogs because when I saw that cabinet I thought it looked familiar! Yours looks great with the picture above it! The colors are perfect for fall!

  12. Penny
Your landscape looks perfect with your fall display.
I, too, like to support local artist.
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished projects!

  13. I love a landscape painting in the fall - yours is shown off to perfection where it is.

  14. Hi Penny, I too love your painting. Perfect for your decor.

Your cloches are very clever the way you used candle holders to place a pumpkin in each one. I just might borrow your idea. Smile.
I am looking forward to seeing your choice of fabric.
    Hugs, Jeanne

  15. It will all be wonderful, Penny. You know I am one of your biggest fans.

Your landscape is gorgeous. I just purchased a new painting for our dining room redo. It is small, but it is just what I needed for a vintage frame I love.

  16. The landscape is really beautiful, it reminds me of some of the photos you showed us of the mountain view from your old house. Don't youhate it when projects stall because you don't have something? It always interrupts my momentum when that happens and I NEED my momentum! lol
Looking forward to seeing your choice of upholstry:>)

  17. Landscapes are wonderful..and what better to have than one of the Blue Ridge Mountains!
My favorites are flowers I think. At least I notice I have them all over the place. Just picked up another on Saturday.

I smiled when I saw how cleverly you had placed those tiny pumpkins on little glass candlesticks giving them a regal look AND under glass! are so CLEVER. I am off to catch up on what you have been up to. I am running behind.
New fabric? :):) Now THAT is going to be fun. I can't wait to see how it turns out!

  18. How exciting. I love looking at fabric, and visualizing the possibilities.

Can't wait to see what you choose! :0)

  19. What a beautiful painting, Penny! It looks great above your cabinet, and I love your fall vignette!

  20. Hi Penny, I just bought some of that chalk paint dark wax and am anxious to try it. I haven't bought any of the paints yet though. Love your tiny pumpkins under glass. could have made some pepper jelly with all those peppers and then sent me a jar. ;) xoxo

  21. Beautiful painting. I like your little cupboard, too.
