Dreaming of Italy

Assisi, 2008
I was really fortunate to go to Italy 3 years ago.  It was so beautiful there and I have always had a dream of going back  one day.

I believe, if you talk small steps towards your dreams, they will become reality.  I would love to go to Italy and stay for a few months.  I know, that is a HUGE dream.

I am taking small steps.  This is what is on my night stand right now....

I figure, if I read these at night before falling asleep, I am one step closer to my "dream" coming true.

Venice, 2008
What are your dreams?  Are you taking steps (no matter how small) to make them come true?
Welcome Home,
Penny

  1. Yes. But they don't involve heading for Italy. Why do some things seem unattainable? Well, I think Italy would be a lovely place for you to spend time soaking up all the culture and learning more about your craft. Your book selection sounds marvelous.

  3. I like your dream! I've never been to Italy, but have heard alot about it from other peoples experiences. I always hear how beautiful it is. My dream right now is to get my stinkin foyer finished so I can get my house back in order! Ha! I'm am LOVING the new color though. I think my husband will finally be able to help me tomorrow so he can get the high spots.

  4. I don't have a burning desire to travel...but my dream is to retire sooner than later with my health intact. That's not asking for much is it?

  10. Penny, how lovely. I do think it's important to dream, and reading about places before you see them is a wonderful idea. I am sure that one day soon you will get to return to Italy.

  11. Hi Penny,
What a lovely dream, and what lovely reads. Frances Mayes has a fairly new book out called Every Day in Tuscany, Seasons of an Italian Italy. I loved her Under The Tuscan Sun.

Well, happy reading, happy dreaming and happy Italy.

  12. Hi Penny! I'm enjoying your beautiful fall photos so much! We have had such a drought here that I'm afraid all we will have is brown leaves this year. One of my dreams is to move to East Texas, where the fall colors rival those up east. We are big believers of dream it, believe it, too!! Hope you are having a wonderful fall.

  14. My hubby and I did Italy three years ago too!! It was not my first time. I have been fortunate as far as travel goes. It has always been a priority for me. Almost as important to me as eating. lol Rome is still my favorite foriegn city. There is really nothing like it. :) We took our kids for the first time this summer to Europe (Paris) for 14 days this past summer. We had such an amazing time... Travel is everything.

  15. Penny, like your way of getting the dream machine moving in the travel direction. ;-)
Only traveled in Italy once, but I'd love to return someday.

  16. I'd love to return to Italy too, Penny. My dream is to visit South Africa, and when TGD is allowed to travel it's at the top of my list - but I just have to convince him!

  17. We would like to visit Italy too on our next trip to France and also drive over to Spain. We were in the south of France for two months several years ago and are dying to go back. With my back problems and the price of the euro, we haven't returned (yet).

Definitely keep dreaming. We bought books about our dreams - the Caribbean, France, airplanes - and if you want them enough, you will manage to make them come true. In the meantime, sit in an armchair and go wherever you wish.

  20. Oh, yes...I am dreaming of another full family cruise. I don't care where we go, just as long as we are all together, laughing, eating, sightseeing, eating, shopping, eating....:))

  23. I hope your dream comes true, Penny. They say that visualizing your dreams and things you wish for..makes them come to pass eventually.
I dream of Ireland like that.
My children at least were able to go..perhaps one day I will. Perhaps.
    Hugs,

  24. You can sit and dream for the rest of your life - of you can start making your dreams come true. One step at a time. I love the way you are working toward your goal. I dream of moving to another place someday - whether to the sea or the mountains, I know not. Not yet!
