Projects On My Side Bar

Last January, when I was recovering from my rotator cuff surgery, I posted a list of decorating projects on my side bar that I wanted to get done this year.

I was limited to what I could do for the first 5 months, but Mr. Comforts of Home and I have managed to check some of the projects off the list.

The project for Mr. Comforts of Home this week, is to hang these curtain rods in our master bedroom.
My project this week is to make curtains.  You see, the problem has been that our windows are not standard height.

So I can't go to Target, JC Penny, Lowe's, Home Goods, etc and get curtains that are a standard 84 inches.  I have to have 108 inch curtains.
Buffalo Check Rod Pocket Panel
To buy the gold buffalo check curtains above from Country Curtains, would cost me $621.95 for 4 windows!  I love these curtains.  I actually used that same curtain in my previous home in the living room.  See here.

Soooo I found some inexpensive fabric to make my curtains with.  It is not the gold buffalo check, but I like what I have found.  I will show you the fabric when it arrives this week.

What are you doing this week?  Working on any projects?
Welcome Home,
Penny

  1. I know you'll make beautiful drapes! We have high ceilings here in our condo but we were able to custom order our drapes from Penny's. It was the only place that was reasonable! Enjoy your evening! ♥

  2. I love those drapes, too. You know I have the red checked ones and they are pretty expensive and not lined. Can't wait to see what your fabric is.

  9. Hi Penny,
Are you going to make pleats again :)
curtain fabric can get very pricey for sure and then trying to handle all the length can get crazy. Gary always helps me with the fabric when I'm laying it out on the table, for some reason the fabric always slips off the table ..LOL
I can't wait to see your curtains. I know they are going to amazing.
Have a sweet day and hugs, Elizabeth

  14. Love the gold check, Penny, I can understand why you'd want them. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do. I'm afraid that my windows might be high in the condo and I won't be able to use what I'm bringing.

  16. Penny, I know you have picked out a beautiful fabric to use in place of the check! Can't wait to see it. I love your curtain rods... they are beautiful. It is hard to pay so much for curtains, when you know you can make them cheaper. Good luck! Love & blessings from NC!
