A few evenings ago we saw the Beach Boys in concert at the Biltmore. This time we had our picnic in the Italian Garden area of the estate.
The Italian Garden is filled with Koi ponds, lilies and beautiful marble statues. There are benches scattered through out and we sat on a bench for our picnic.
As the sun set slowly over the mountain tops, the seats began to fill up.
Then the Beach Boys came on stage and sang and played for two hours straight!
When they played Surfer Girl, Mike Love encouraged all of the audience to get out their cell phones and flip them open and use the lights from the phone the way we used to use Bic lighters.... I took a picture of the crowd behind us with the cell phones waving in the air.
It was a great concert. I am very fortunate to live 15 minutes from the Biltmore Estate and in these beautiful mountains.
Welcome Home,
Penny

Your pictures of the garden and sunset are beautiful, Penny! And how I'd love to see the Beach Boys...I bet it was a ball. They did the cell phone thing at Emily's graduation, which was in a dark theater...it was fun. Have a great week!!

I love, love, love the Beach Boys. The concert must have been wonderful.
I remember when my daddy would light his cigarette lighter during that part of concerts.
I had entered a contest through Better Homes and Gardens and the prize was a trip to the Biltmore Estate. I didn't win. Dang!!! We could have met!!!
Wow Penny, what a beautiful setting for a concert! I love the photos of the sunset. Looks like it was tons of fun.

Yes, indeed you are quite lucky. What fun!
What a fantastic concert! WOW! I love their music! And the weather is so nice here right now! ♥ Great photos! ♥
Looks like quite a crowd and a wonderful evening out.
Surfer girl was my favorite. Grew up in Redondo Beach CA....where I went to the beach they played Beach Boys Music over the loud speakers so we could hear out on the sand!
Saw them in concert as an adult as well....it was the same night I learned what a "contact high" was :-) Ahh....the 70's
Glad you enjoyed, the place looks awesome!
Hugs!!
You ARE very fortunate, Penny! How great! That must have been a fantastic concert. I remember loving the Beach Boys and listening to one of their albums over and over again when I was a teen.
You really are lucky! It sounds like a really fun night out:>)
Fabulous Penny. I'm feeling "good vibrations" all the way over here.

I love the Beach Boys! They used to hang out at the same beach I did as a teenager (before they were THE Beach Boys!). We all played volleyball together during those long-ago summer days. ::Jill
How fun! Lucky lady!
You are indeed lucky to live so close to such a lovely place. The evening sounds like one to remember....like all those summers past that we lived to the music of the Beach Boys.
Looks like a lot of fun and a beautiful setting.
