I have been showing you bits and pieces of our backyard and the work we are doing on it. I thought I would show you the whole picture, so you could put it in to perspective.
This is a shot standing in my kitchen garden looking back towards the house.
In it you can see the screen and the potting bench to the left, the pergola to the right and beyond the pergola, the fire pit area.
I am standing on my driveway looking at the kitchen garden in the shot above.
This is the newest addition to our back yard. It sits between the fire pit area and the pergola. It still needs to be hooked up. A trench has to be dug and electric brought out to the fountain and pergola. We will be hanging those cool Italian cafe type string lights on the pergola when we get electric out there.
This picture is taken from our back porch, looking towards the fire pit and pergola.
We found some nice, but inexpensive outdoors furniture for our fire pit at Lowe's.
And we put the other furniture we were using around the fire pit, back onto the back porch. We are still getting pollen, so I have not decorated the back porch yet.
Anyone want to come over for a BBQ and marshmallow roast?
Welcome Home,
Penny
p.s. My curtains are finished and the traverse rod is here. Mr. Comforts of Home is hanging the rod this week, so stay tuned for the master bath update!

What a great yard and so fun to see it in its entirety. Yes, I'd love to come over for a marshmallow roast!
Do you ever have troubles with garden pests...deer? groundhogs? with your kitchen garden out in the open that way? I love Susan Branch's idea for a kitchen garden; she lives in a "jungle" where pests were eating everything in sight.
Looking forward to seeing the curtains!
Penny your back yard looks fabulous!! I'd love to come over for a BBQ. Can't wait to see those curtains! Enjoy your weekend, Martina
With an outdoor area like that, you bet I'll come on over! You get two thumbs up from me and a hearty BRAVO for a job well done!
Love your yard. Now all we need is a cookout! Love that new fountain and can't wait to see your new drapes.
Lovely! And thank you for the comprehensive photos! It's so wonderful when people bother to do this. So we can actually *see* how everything comes together and goes, as it were.
Only one question... Have you ever considered screening in your back porch?
~♥~

Mr.Comforts of Home stays very busy doesn't he? You have a very level backyard and lots of room for making outdoor rooms. Don't you love a blank palette for envisioning your owns dreams? Everything looks very nice.
Penny, this is sooo pretty! I love how open and sunny your yard is. I have way too many trees and they are messy. You are going to really enjoy this space this summer.
That looks just lovely. You really are creating quite a comfortable yard. Take care.
I would love to visit sometime. You are in NC correct? I may be heading that way again sometime soon!!

Hey Penny! Love your backyard & porch! I'd love to have a garden like this - raised beds are so neat - can't wait to see pictures of it later this summer! Guess that potting bench will be put to good use :)
It's beautiful, Penny! What an inspiration you are.

Such a change from when we were there last year! It all looks really great, and you guys did a very good job! Want to come to my house to help out with the 101 things?! So busy around here yet I'm trying to get caught up looking at everyone's blogs again. I'm now going to see what else you have done at home!
Looks beautiful :)
The house, the setting, the garden - everything is just beautiful. The only thing missing is a large bunch of happy people. I hope you do a lot of entertaining and use the space to the maximum.

WOW Penny, your backyard is awesome!!~ I love that you have all those trees, yet they are farther away not to wreak havoc all over your sitting area. Very nice backyard retreat!
Everything is just gorgeous Penny! I'm the most jealous of the sunshine though! :-)

ahhhh...this is just breathtaking, Penny. Just beautiful. What nice work you and Mr. C have done.
What a nice place to relax...and I LOVE those cafe string lights, too, and know they will look amazing.
Hello Penny, We are enjoying warm (hot) sunny weather here in Jax, FL. Our grandson's recital was wonderful.
Your back yard is looking beautiful. What a huge amount of work you have done back there. It is stunning really. Bill likes it too. He would never take on projects like this. Truthfully, the yard is an up hill mountain. HA! We love it though. Mother nature provides us with wild black raspberries and wild blackberries. Also figs, but the tree is so big we can't get to them. HA! Our deck garden is giving us strawberries this year. We will be planting late because we will be in Maine all of June.
Your garden looks fab. I hope it grows and gives you lots of good food. We have to beat the grocery stores somehow. Smaller containers and same prices. Such is life.
Great job Penny and your hubs. This is a grand garden plan.
Love, Jeanne

Penny, it all looks fantastic. Kudos to you and your husband. I know it has been a lot of hard work, but there will be a lot of sweet rewards.
Your new fountain is so pretty. We really enjoy listening to ours.
Your yard is coming along beautifully Penny. You guys must work all the time! We put our back yard area in last year and we love it so I know you will too. Nothing better than a glass of wine sitting out by the fire. Enjoy!
Sue
What a beautiful space! I love how you've divided it up into various uses - it feels like a great spot to gather.
Well now, it certainly was worth all that hard work...it looks magnificent. And I am loving your header, it looks so beautiful. You must be so pleased. Now you can sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Karen
Your yard is amazing, Penny! Love all the work you've done. Your home was incredible before all the work and it's even more incredible now :)
