The Backyard So Far....and The Kitchen Table Project.

You know that we have been working on our backyard.  Last spring, we built a raised kitchen garden.

Last fall we started the pergola (that reveal is coming soon)and added a fire pit area.  See the picture below.
The thing is, we took our back porch furniture off the porch and moved it onto the fire pit area.

Now I want to move it back to the porch (which is empty) and find 4 chairs to place around the fire pit.  I am looking for something comfortable because I plan on spending a lot of time sitting by the fire on cool mountain evenings.

I found this at everypatiofurniture.  It looks comfy doesn't it?  It also looks similar to my porch furniture.

Another project I have been working on (or trying to) is to paint my kitchen table and chairs.  I got the top sanded and re stained - but the poly didn't go on very well.  So I will have to sand it again and this time I am thinking about painting the top too.

Sometimes I think I should have just sold my set and got a new one...like this one I found at Dining Furniture.

It looks similar to mine and it is already painted!!  This site has some wonderful dining tables and chairs.

Stay tuned to see what I end up doing.

p.s. don't forget to sign up for my giveaway, you can find it posted on April 25th.
Welcome Home,
Penny

Penny, I left my comment on the studio post, so I won't repeat myself here. Can't wait to see the finished project. ~ Sarah

Sell the table and buy a new one? What a concept! I should've thought of that. Ha! Right. Love that wicker and it certainly would complement what you're doing. Oh to sit around a fire on a chilly evening in the mountains. Sounds delightful!

Hi Penny,
Your garden and yard look wonderful! I answered yes to all three of your poll questions on your side bar...LOL. I enjoy seeing all the make overs..
You are right the wicker is very much the same, but this would be great then you could move all the patio chairs around to either the front porch or the outside fire-pit area. They would compliment each-other.
Have a sweet day and hugs, Elizabeth

Your outdoor area is to-die-for! I could spend every afternoon and evening just sitting out there for hours on end! You have created quite the paradise!

Your backyard looks wonderful...I envy all that gardening space! You really have done a great job!

Thanks for the links...I am looking for furniture for our balcony off the master bedroom at the lake. I wasn't sure I wanted to go with wicker, but I'm leaning towards that. Thanks, Penny!

Penny!
Love the outdoor projects! I am planning a kitchen garden and a firepit area in my wooded garden! Natureboy just shakes his head..he does the labor and I sit back and plan..a charmed life I'd say!
I am so relived that the ice has disappeared and sunshine is finally here!

Things are looking neat and lovely!

Do you not have to fence in your garden area? I mean, I don't know, but it looks kind of country-fied right next to you. And I'd see animals coming in the night, to feast on things.

That possible chair looks comfy and great!!!!!

I does seem easier to just buy something new than have to sand and paint and all that. ....or in my case easier to buy a new sofa than make slipcovers for it! KInd of overwhelming to think about. Anyways, I love the firepit area in your backyard! Is the new furniture your looking at weatherproof? It's great looking!~Hugs, Patti

When my table needs a revamp, I take the easy way out and slipcover the chairs. :) I keep saying I need to paint it but now I've convinced myself there's no point to doing it right now, I should just wait until we move in two years. It's wonderful what you can talk yourself into sometimes. :) Your back yard looks like it's coming along. Love the furniture you picked out.

Love your yard and sorry the poly didn't do right. Sometimes it is easier just to buy new.

Your backyard looks amazing. I love the chair you picked out. I like your idea of the 4 chairs around the firepit.

Your backyard looks very inviting. I love that chair and think it looks so comfortable.

I've had the same dining room table forever, and I am so tempted to buy a new one. Thanks for the link!

Are you enjoying the pea gravel? It really looks good. We're debating whether to change our cypress chips to gravel, the wood breaks down so quickly and we're always having to replenish it, such a huge, back breaking job!

Looking forward to seeing the pergola Penny - it will be a lovely spot to sit out.

I know you're going to love that firepit area. We're planning one too. Mimi

Your yard is looking great, I remember the photo's from when you started. The wicker chair is so beautiful that I'd be disinclined to leave it out in the weather.

Hope the second go at the table turns out better.

Penny, it is all looking good - and I always want to see more.

I noticed some nice outdoor wicker when I was in Sam's Club about a month ago. I don't know if they still have it, but it was very nice - and black.

I would love a new dining room table, but my husband is not "feeling it".

Hi Penny, thank you for your very welcome home comment. Smile. since I have been gone for a week I have been wondering who won the birdhouse contest. I need to catch up on your posts I have missed. Your back yard is looking beautiful. The porch furniture looks great. I do think you are right to get some weather resistant lawn furniture.

The table is a hard job. I knew it would be. I know you will figure it out.

Have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Jeanne

I would say BUY THE NEW ONE. Some things are great re-done...others, I think, are better new.

Your yard is looking beautiful Penny.

I've had those moments with paint projects and decided to buy new! Especially with the waning energy of age!

What is the stuff you've filled in your garden and sitting area with?

Penny, I really love the wicker chair you are considering but whatever you decide to do, your fire pit area is going to be fabulous. The dining room set is beautiful too!

Thank you so much for providing the link to that online furniture site. I found a buffet/console I liked that was priced low because it was a closeout special. I bookmarked it to "think about it" and when I went back to look at it again, it was marked down even lower...$195.00 and free shipping! That's cheaper than most pre-owned furniture goes for on Craigslist! In addition, this one is over $300 cheaper than another one I was considering buying elsewhere and the style is very, very similiar. I actually think I like this one better! Needless to say, I jumped on this deal and can't wait to get it!
