Dreaming

Our weather has been in the 60's and 70's this week.  I walked around the yard to see if anything spring like was happening.

My garlic, planted last fall is the only thing growing in the kitchen garden.

The Knock Out rosebush is budding.

The day lilies are sprouting up from the ground.
The lilac bush planted last spring is getting buds.

Mr. Comforts of Home is back outside working on the pergola.

So that got me day dreaming about what summer could be like in my backyard.

Dining out under the pergola....

Listening to water trickle in a fountain (which we have to buy and install - still dreaming).

And walking along our newly installed gravel path to a cozy seating area for two.

The last three pictures are from BH&G....maybe this summer, I will have something similar.

Are your dreaming of a summer day?
Welcome Home,
Penny

  1. What boring lives we'd live, if we couldn't dream, huh? Thanks for sharing, can't wait to see the "real thing" when you are done! Have a wonderful weekend. Sandi

  2. Ahhh ... the anticipation of spring. Nothing better than it. You are a bit ahead of us here in NJ but can't wait to see the buds starting to swell. Awesome photos!

  4. Not yet, though I'm glad that you are. Wow! Things outside have changed a lot since last I saw it. That snow is a thing of the past for this year. (I whispered that just in case.) Oh the things you have planned!

  5. Delightful dreams Penny. I love all these inspiration photos. The long table under the pergola would be so beautiful for dining with friends wouldn't it? And I can see Earl and me in those chairs in the last photo having coffee. Can you believe I am as thrilled with our 45 degrees and sunshine as you are with 60-70 degrees? Me either, but almost:>) Spring is almost here!

  8. Hi Penny, yes it's always so nice to see plants come back to life gradually after a long cold winter, especially after all that snow! Won't be long now you'll be dining alfresco! take care, Maryann.. just a question.. how did you get your comments to be numbered?.. I just realised mine aren't! Would it be because mine come up in a pop out window.. thought you might know.. if not don't worry.. thanks!

  9. Love pergolas. Do you have plans to look for a table similar to the one in the photo are do you already have one you will be using? What fun!

  10. Oh yes,I'm dreaming too. No need of a pergola here because of the big cedars - in fact, we're always looking for the sun. I love the gravel path to the seating area for two - I'll bet you get that accomplished!
    I enjoyed that little walk-about.

Lots of work in the garden here. My roses aren't budding yet. I need to cut them back this weekend. Running a bit late. ;-)

  18. I am dreaming of being back in NC, but it has just gotten really warm in Florida so I think we will enjoy it here for the next month or so. Looking forward to seeing all of the progress you have made in the backyard.

  19. Your pergola is going to be fantastic. You will get so much enjoyment from that. I can't wait to see what you do with it. Yes, major spring fever here. We are back to lots of rain and chilly temps in Southern California so it feels like winter is making a repeat visit. I am going to try to plant some bareroot roses this weekend while the ground is soft from the rain. That will help with my spring fever! I'm happy to see your area has warmed up. Spring will soon be on it's way.

  20. I am so dreaming of a summer day, Penny. Your pergola is going to be wonderful, as is your whole back yard and garden! Yesterday our temps were near 80 and I spent the whole day outside, pure bliss. A bit cooler today but spring is just around the corner.

    Hugs,
    Donna
