What's on my shelf is way too many cookbooks. I'm addicted to books, especially ones about cooking.

However, I do have quite a few on Provence and French decorating, especially about the south of France. Both of Vicki Archer's books of course. Then there are some with French Impressionist's paintings and stories about their lives. They were a fascinating group of people.

One of my favorites to give as a gift to artist friends who like the French Impressionist's is "Lydia Reading the Newspaper," by Harriet Chessman. It's about the relationship Lydia had with her sister Mary Cassatt and how she felt about posing for the paintings.

Wow, Penny. You do have quite the collection. I think the only ones I have are Bunny Williams Affair With A House and Paula Deen's Savannah Style. I do have plans to order Barbra Streisand's My Passion For Design.

Well, I'd love to be your neighbour - you'd be a wealth of information, with that library!
Some of the books are familiar to me and some aren't, but are very tempting!

I have been reading my Barbra Streisand book, my latest purchase. It is beautiful! The narrative is wonderful. I can hear her voice, as I read. The photos are amazing. There are grand rooms and wonderfully comfortable rooms. I love it. Oh, and the gardens!wow!

Many of the same ones that's on yours! I may or may not get a Kindle for my birthday this month. (You mentioned we may be around the same age, so I'll just say that on the 19th I shall be 54). But even if I get one, I will never give up my decorating and gardening books!

I see a few that I have too, Cottage Style Decorating, Nell Hills Feather Your Nest, The French Inspired Home ;>), and several cottage style books by Better Homes and Gardens and other companies. I love them too, and when I went to look at what I had I noticed some of them are filled with bookmarks on pages that have some of my favorite images. I pulled them to look at later since it has been a while. Maybe I'll find some new inspiration for the kitchen!

Wow! That is an impressive library of decorating books Penny! One of my most favorite that I found at a second-hand store is the "Southern Living: Secrets of Style". I have looked at it so many times I have it memorized! :-) I have a few more on my bday list and I saw some in your collection I just might have to add too!

I have a copy of a Country Living Magazine next to my desk that I glance at the cover every day.... it has a small green dresser on it that I think is just the cutest. I don't think I own any actual decorating books though.

Penny, your post did make me smile. Yes, you sure have tons of decorating books. I love them too but now have just a few. I gave many of them away when we moved here. I love my book from Nell Hill in Kansas. Her stores are awesome. I met her in person with Dana and my SIL who took me there. Have you ever heard of her stores.

Take good care of your shoulder so you can put some of those great ideas to work. Smile. I do admit I don't how you can improve your beautiful home anymore. I admire what you have already done so much.

Happy day to you dear friend.
Hugs, Jeanne

These are all wonderful books.
I got a new one from my daughter for Christmas..I'm too tired to get up and walk in the living room to see the name of it but...
it's French decorating. All the different styles of French decorating. I have concluded my favorite is French Country. I think of you every time I sit down to drool over the beautiful photos. :)

You have a wonderful collection of books there Penny! I don't have near enough decorating books on my shelves. I'd say more than anything I have literature books, poetry, and classics...mixed in with my school books which are...taking over in my office! Heehee. I'd much rather come read your books than my school books!

Me, too! I see that we have a lot of the same books. I'm frequently revisiting many of my books and find that I still continue to add to the library. Just can't help myself. It's the same with books on table tops and gardening and antiques. Now I'm off to make a list of some titles I see that I don't have. ;-)

I'll have to double check the ones you have so I can find them at the library. I always check them out first and then buy if I really like it. I have too many books, but there are a lot of gardening ones in my stack.
