Summer Bounty and Weekend Plans

Summer Bounty

Picked from our garden last evening before supper.

We are taking a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend to Mt. Mitchell. Which is the highest peak east of the Mississippi River.  It will be about 20 degrees cooler there.  We are taking a picnic along.

I might even do a little spray painting this weekend on some garden "junque". :-)

What are you doing this weekend?

p.s. don't forget to enter my giveaway, by leaving a comment on the giveaway post, here. The winner will be announced Sunday.

Welcome Home,
Penny

  2. Oh my goodness Penny. Yummy veggies fresh from the garden! Love it.

Your weekend trip sounds wonderful. I don't think there is a place in Missouri where we can find cooler temps. I imagine our weekend plans are to stay in the AC.

    Happy weekend!

  9. Wow, Penny isn't gardening fun? We leave tomorrow for camping and my sister will probably eat our first ripe tomato? Darn. such is life.

    Theses veggies look sooo good.

I tried to leave you a comment earlier this week twice and it wouldn't go through. I had a good chuckle when you said Mr. Comfort is weakening for a pup like Cheri'. She is the darling of our hearts. We love the breeder because she socializes all of her puppies. Cheri' loves everyone.

    Have a wonderful week.

  10. It involves "blue" and a paintbrush in the bathroom. I'd rather be going on a picnic.

  12. Being some place cooler sounds really good right now! I can't wait for fall. I've had about all I can take of this heat and it's not even August yet!

Your veggies look great! We're trying to finish up a few things in our family room. I have one wall of baseboards to paint. Unfortunately, my husband leaves for California on Sunday for a week so I'm sure we'll be spending part of Saturday getting him ready to go!

  19. Penny, we are heading into the "loop" for dinner. Hope we don't get caught up in the filming of "Transformers"!! Truthfully, I would rather be heading up on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a picnic. It's where my husband and I had our second date (30 years ago).
I miss my mountains! Have a wonderful time.

Loved peeking into your basket. We have another week or so to wait for tomatoes but are enjoying squash and cucumbers.

    Best,
    Bonnie
