We took a little day trip today to visit neighbors we used to have when we lived in Tennessee.
Some of you might remember me mentioning I lived in Tennessee about 5 years ago. We bought a small old farmhouse and fixed it up. Here is a picture of it.
You can even see the same wicker furniture we have on our porch now - on this porch!
Anyway, our previous neighbors are wonderful people and we have remained friends and since we only live about 1 hour and 45 minutes from each other we try to get together a couple of times a year.
We started our trip around 8AM....
The mountains you see in the distance are in Tennessee...we are still in NC here.
Oh! Scenic Overlook! Let's stop. I know it is foggy, but maybe we will get a good picture anyway.
Pretty, huh?
This was the view the other way. If we climbed those stairs in the fog, we would have been a lot higher...but maybe next time.
Ok...we are at our friends now. They have some roosters, hens, cats, kittens, goats....
Isn't he handsome?
We spent the day catching up....having a wonderful lunch under a large shade tree and relaxing.
Heading home, right before you get into Asheville NC...this is the pretty view you see.
I can home with some wonderful canned goods, and some shared plants to plant and some wonderful memories....
What a wonderful day.
Welcome Home,
Penny

I love day trips. It is just so nice to get away for a change of scenery. Visiting old friends makes it even nicer. It looks like all those beautiful landscapes and mountain views were a wonderful bonus!
What a wonderful trip. I enjoy day trips like that. What fun!!! I want to plan a day trip up to see you sometime. Loved your pictures. Love & blessings from NC!
Oooo I love the fog photo! I love day trips!
Isn't it nice to keep up with old friends? It takes some effort - sometimes a long drive - but it's good for the soul.
I love to visit with old friends and play catch up...Nothing like friends...Glad you had a great day Penny...hugs and smiles Gl♥ria

What a beautiful day! The memory barrel is overflowing..........
I love day trips, as you know. Yours was fantabulous!!
Beautiful! I had heard that Tennessee and NC were beautiful places. The green trees/ fog pictures remind me so much of here in the Pacific NW. However you guys have A LOT more deciduous trees.
I love a foggy mountain vista. The old farmhouse is lovely too. Glad you had a good visit.

What a beautiful day...and gorgeous views! We are blessed to live in a beautiful part of the country! Have a wonderful day! ♥
As a child, we went on many vacations to the Smokey Mountains and it is one the happier memories I have! I think it is just beautiful and want to go back!
Love the house you restored! I love that trip into Tennessee. We make it a few times a year to visit friends too. Let's do lunch next week!
Hugs,
Penny
What beautiful countryside...or should I say mountainside! There's nothing like old friends to warm our hearts. Your former home is beautiful. It sounds like it was a lovely day with lovely scenery and lovely old friends. That's a very good day.
Penny, I am following you back. So nice to meet you. I love all of your work. I looked at both blogs. I also have two beautiful garden chairs, but I have only done fresh flowers in their seats for special occasions, that was clever the way you put chicken wire in the bottom and planted them. so nice to have a new friend.
Tennessee looks so beautiful. One of my good friends is from there, but I have never been.
Penny, what a great day. Time spent with friends and a beautiful drive there and back.
Oh the view of the mountains in the mist! How fortunate you are to live in such a beautiful area with those gorgeous vistas. It sounds like a wonderful day. The old farmhouse is adorable, I see you have always had a thing for porches:>)
LOVELY photos! And yes, he is a handsome boy!!!!
Penny, I want that old farmhouse! It is exactly what I am looking for! No doubt you made it just as charming as the other homes you have owned.

Oooooh and Ahhhhh! What gorgeous pictures Penny! Even the rooster picture was awesome. Where did you live in Tenn? Our family is vacationing in Pigeon Forge next month and I desperately want to move there one day.
xoxo,
Kim
The mountians look so beautiful! They remind me of the Smoky and Blue Ridge mountains. Your prior house in Tennessee was so pretty! It's noce you keep in touch with the friends you made there.
I love that chicken! If I didn't travel so often I'd invest in raising chickens. My grandmother had them and when I was a child I enjoyed taking care of them and collecting eggs whenever I visited her.
Hi Penny....When we travel in that area I can never get over the beauty of it. You are very fortunate to live somewhere so scenic! Sounds like you had a wonderful day with good friends!~Hugs, Patti
Really beautiful scenery and no traffic! I love your little farmhouse! I would never have left it!! So cute! Do you have more pictures of it? If you do, I'd love to see them.

What a wonderful trip and so nice to spend time with friends. The scenery is gorgeous!
I love the old house you lived in, Penny!

Is a beautiful view. Go go the same route when visiting Pigeon Forge.
That is beautiful country! Your feathered friend certainly is a handsome fellow. Ceramics could be designed based on his magnificence. And, at the very least, you could frame his photo. What a cute little farmhouse you once owned. So, you've moved a lot. Are you home yet?
AWWW.....just when I was sort of getting over my vacation....you post these beautiful pictures. Well, back to "pining" away for the mountains again.
The goat was cute! I hope your trip was fabulous.
Penny, sounds like you had a nice trip!
ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
Thank you Penny! I've been housebound all summer - and this was so refreshing to the soul to see - what awesome captures! I feel like I had a mini vacation.
I've enjoyed catching up with you this morning. Always a treat to visit you.
Love,
Kim
Makes me want really badly to go to the mountains. Vann and I used to love mountain trips.
