This is the the loft area in our house. Right now it is just a catch all. Everything we didn't know what to do with ended up here.
Another shot from the far end of the loft area....It is narrow and long.
Wouldn't it be cool if I could create a library up here? Like this one below?
Of course on a much smaller scale :-).

That would be great, being a book lover myself, and this is the perfect place for a library. I say go for it and I am really looking forward to seeing the finished room!!

Hi Penny, I think that would be a terrific idea, especially if you have lots of books! A comfy sitting area to read and have a cuppa would look good too... but I'm sure what ever you do with the space it will look just great! take care, Maryann

My goodness your loft is flooded with light, a perfect place for your library. I can imagine sitting comfortably surrounded by books, and drifting into the worlds held between the pages. I look forward to seeing the results of your labour - I'm sure it will be spectacular.
Yes! That would be way cool. And I don't see why it should be on a much smaller scale. You do everything up right!
I love that idea. One day I would love to have a small library in our home. For now it is just two bookcases.

That was the first thing I thought of when I saw the photo - that window is crying out for a window seat!
I thought "Library" the minute I saw that space. I think that would be wonderful to have wall to wall bookcases and cozy seating!

Your loft area is great! and yes a library would be perfect. I have a friend who just had a loft built in her home with a beautiful library built in. Just add a electric fireplace and you could cuddle up next to it and read all the decorating book to your hearts content. Sounds wonderful to me!

I love libraries. When we lived in Toronto the house we lived in had a loft similar to the one you've shown. It had floor to ceiling book cases and a small loft with a step down. It overlooked the great room like a balcony. I was the only one that would go there, because everyone else was afraid of the height. The builder had neglected to put in the right height divider. I loved it. I know you will create something wonderful.

I say "go for it". Mr Comforts of Home is very talented and I am sure he would love to build just such a place for the two of you to relax with a good read!
A library would be perfect...you have enough space for thin shelves around your window...and you already have a few comfy chairs - go for it!
