We are adding a little more layering to our home. The first picture below is the great room, I showed you this last month.
We found a wonderful area rug to go in this room. In the picture below you can see how it just makes this space cozier.
Here is another shot taken from upstairs in the mezzanine area looking down into the great room.
Every little layer just adds more warmth. Next comes curtains.
I hope you are staying warm this weekend.
Welcome Home,
Penny

I agree with you about the layering! Every little touch makes a house, a Home. The rug adds a beautiful feature to your room. I will be watching for what you come up with for curtains....good luck!

My favorite kind of rug, the pattern is gorgeous and it looks great with all your other little touches. You have such a lovely flair for decorating Penny!
The rug is perfection, Penny!
It certainly does look wonderful and warms it up and defines the space beautifully.
(Sorry about the spam. So many of us have been getting plastered.)
So pretty, Penny! I have been working on my dining room and just can't seem to be happy with it. The layers are not there yet. :)
Nice warm room, Penny...love it.
Beautiful room. The rug just makes it that much more special..

Penny, for me it's the layering that makes having a home so much fun. Your living room looks beautiful and inviting. Love that light filled space and those gilt stacking tables.
Penny, looks so lovely, cozy and warm - just gets better and better.
Makes me want to work on my living room but that has to wait awhile as I'm so wrapped up in Africa I can't even contemplate a big re-decorating project right now!!
Have a great weekend and say hi to K. Bob's off again on Mon., two traveling weeks in a row. This one I must make sure I don't lock myself out of house/car!!!!
Penny, the rug is just gorgeous. I do love the way it seems to ground the room and give it warmth. Beautiful colors. I look forward to your choice of drapes. Also, I am taking over Table Top Tuesday for Barb since her business is really, really busy right now. I so hope you will join us on Tuesdays. Hugs, Marty
Looking great, Penny...can't wait to see your curtains!
Yes layering is essential! A little at a time and it will be soo very cozy! I am still layering as well. I seem to go backwards though and layer rug first and then curtains. Makes it hard on myself but if I see it an love it then eventually after saving its mine.
I love your rug! Little by little you're making BIG progress. Now I can't wait to see what you do with the curtains. It's a gorgeous room and so inviting! ~Adrienne~
It definitely warms up the room! The rug is a perfect compliment!
Lovely, Penny! It certainly does add warmth and coziness to your room.
Your rug definitely pulls the whole room together!
That rug made all the difference in your room. The room is beautiful, but that just warmed it up and pulled it all together. Great choice! Love & blessings from NC!

That rug did make things so much cozier! Can't wait to see what you do on the windows!
Such a pretty rug, and yes, the room looks so much more inviting with the rug. laurie
Hi Penny,
Oh my goodness - the layering gets better and better - what a difference the rug makes in adding color and warmth. Beautiful.
Have a lovely week.
Blessings,
Erin
The rug does add a wonderfully rich layer to your living room.
I am really noticing your fireplace mantel, which unlike mine- is stunning and attractive.
I also noticed that you didnt follow the 3+1 rule that I read about while searching for tips on how to decorate a fireplace.
Do you follow any rules when arranging on the mantel or just wing it and do what feels right? The frame of the mirror is vry large which seems to balance the size of the fireplace out.
Any way, the process of watching you personalize your home is so fun. It's truly beginning to take on a character and personality that is charming and inviting.
Love the rug and can't wait to see what you do with curtains. I'm kind of stuck there with my great room--need to figure out a window treatment that will add color/interest to the room without really blocking out any light.
The colors of the rug are perfect for your room. Love the bookcase, too. I can't live without my books! They give a home such a wonderful feeling. Enjoy the nice weather! ♥
That rug made a huge difference. Everything looks great. Mimi
Penny, your room looks wonderful!
Wonderful great room. I would love to have a room that big. You are a lucky lady. The carpet is perfect. Blessings, Martha
Fabulous!!

Donna
Isn't it weird how much one item can soften a space. This is lovely.
I love your rug, Penny. It makes the entire room so much warmer!
That rug really anchors the room, and with the high ceilings it is perfect. I can't wait to see what you come up with for your draperies.
