The Dining Room Rug

Ok, by now you are probably tired of pictures of area rugs - lol.  So here is the final post on them.  This time it is the formal dining room.  Here is the BEFORE picture without the rug.

And here is the AFTER below, with the new area rug.  This time we went with more red, since most of the room seemed to be green.  I wanted this room to tie into the house better colorwise, and I think the red in the rug does a good job for that.

Below the picture is taken standing in the living room, looking through the foyer into the dining room.
I love how all of the rugs are different, yet they still seem to "go" together.

Do you have area rugs, carpet, hardwood or tile?  Or a mixture?
Welcome Home,
Penny

Oh I have a mess...

Your carpets are wonderful, Penny! They are doing a great job of marrying all the elements. The color choices and the patterns are elegant and fine.

You have a beautiful home and I love the area rugs. I have a mixture of flooring in my home. I have ceramic tile in my dining room and sun room with area rugs . . . hardwood in my den and master bedroom with area rugs . . . pine flooring in my living room with an area rug and I have an area rug or runner in my hall as well. I also have smaller area rugs in both baths and guest room. Not to mention that I have 3 area rugs under the bed in the guest room that I swap around. I guess it is obvious that I love rugs. Thanks for sharing and have a nice week.

Blessings,
Elizabeth

I have enjoyed seeing your gorgeous, new rugs. It makes me want to hurry up and replace our 'icky' old carpets with the hardwood we want and then find the perfect area rugs for our home. I love the look of each of your rugs - they really add another dimension!

Penny, I love every one of your new rugs. Each one adds such a perfect look and warmth to the room. Did you find all three at the same place?

Our house is three floors. The main floor is the middle floor, and it is all hardwoods. I have a rug in the living room, family room, kitchen and breakfast room. I don't have a rug in the dining room because there are still a lot of changes I want to make in there.

Our other two floors are carpeted. I wanted to put hardwood on the top level, but my husband really ... wanted carpet.

Gorgeous!!

Penny, may I ask what the name of your rugs are and the manufacturers? They all coordinate so well...which I know is no accident! ;)

Hi Penny, I just realized I have missed some of your posts. Where does the time go? All of your rugs are perfect for each room. The warmth a rug brings to a room is wonderful. They are different but have the same mix of colors over all. It does make one room flow into another. I love rugs and use them in almost every room as accents. However, my floors are not wood. I put them on the plain colored carpet. Maybe someday I will have wood floors.

Your laundry room is looking very pretty. A pretty clean white. You can use accent colors and for any look you want. That is a good thing.

My laundry is totally decorated. Busy, but I love the look. I have a collection of 50's hand embroidered laundry bags, clothespin bags etc. I did share it a long time ago. Maybe it is time I did it again. I made some changes since then.

The bird bath is going to be awesome.

Happy decorating.
Hugs, Jeanne

Now that is cozy. I am so glad that you have different patterns. I value your decorating opinion, and I too have different designs on my rugs. I think it makes it look cozier too, but I always thought I was breaking some decorating rule.

I really love the way that chair and ottoman look on your rug. Your dining room is so lovely.

I love the red carpet. I think it ties the two rooms together very well.
When we moved to the parsonage they gave us the option of new carpet of going back to the origianl hardwoods. I went for the hardwoods and they did an excellent job of restoring them back to their origianl beauty. We did keep the carpet in the bedrooms. I have an area rug in the living room.

Penny,

I was just spending some time browsing around at all of your before and after photos. I just love it all, I think my favorite room is the Great Room. I wanted to say, I do hope you turn this adventure into a book. Your ideas are filled with beautiful inspirations but affordable and doable. Unless that is you would like to lend us Mr. Comforts of Home. Okay, Okay but seriously this would be a gorgeous coffee table book.

I love all your area rugs, Penny! I love the look and how it feels in a room with hardwood floors.

Just gorgeous!

We have all wood except for the kitchen and bathrooms. We have three area rugs. Two are from the same collection so they go together the ways yours do...without matching.

I love wood floors. If I have my way, we will never have carpet again. Though I will say the bedrooms are nippy.

We have hardwoods downstairs with area rugs. I love my hardwoods as they are so easy to take care of. My upstairs bedrooms are carpet. I love all your new area rugs. They look beautiful and really tie everything together. Love & blessings from NC!

I love your rugs. I've always wanted rugs but with two dogs in the house, floorcloths are easier for me to keep clean.

There is no arguing the difference a beautiful rug can make in a room, as we can see here! It just fills the room with color and texture, and pulls all the beautiful colors of the room together. Just beautiful Penny!

Lovely dining room rug Penny - it really warms up the bright room and anchors your lovely furniture.

I'm really tired of wall to wall, and the upkeep, so am thinking seriously of wood flooring in the entry and dining room, BUT don't know where to start. I only want wide plank and it has to look old and cottagey (even French!). this type of flooring in wood may be out of my budget so I'm also looking at laminate as they seem to be doing some wide plank looks now. I'm going to do a "help me" post on flooring soon!!
