Working On One Guest Bathroom

You might recognize the furniture and bedding in the guest room. It used to be in my master bedroom at my old house. It is looking a little messy right now. Shower curtains and rods, decorative plates, pictures, light switch covers all over the bed. Ladders in the middle of the room.... BTW...do you see the lamp cords behind the night stand on the right? Did you ever notice that in magazine shoots you NEVER see a lamp cord? Just keeping it real here :-).

That's because I am painting the guest bath that attaches to this room. Immediately below is the before shot...Another chocolate brown room. The paint is too dark, for this room with no windows.

Here it is below with it's first coat of Steamed Milk from Sherwin Williams...It needs a couple of more coats, but it is looking larger and brighter already!

I am still working on my studio too. When one rooms paint is wet, I go paint another coat in the other room.
Welcome Home,
Penny

  1. I've been working on guest rooms too. Children and grandchildren arrive on Friday, so I have a deadline! Like you, I have one room done in my old bedding - blue toile - and one done in a pretty pattern of violets. Lots of fun!

  3. You are really making a big dent in the decorating of your home. I am happy to see you using the red toile comforter...I've always loved it. And I love the color of the bath. You always pick the perfect shades. 'Steamed Milk'. I love it!

  4. Do you ever get a break? I will have to try painting two rooms at a time, recoating one while the other is drying. There is nothing slower than watching paint dry! You are going to deserve a medal after this!

  5. I love all the red and toile! That room is going to be beautiful when finished. You are right. There are no cords showing in magazine shoots. Interesting. Very rarely do you see a television. I've looked at articles of someone's home and see the same bowl of lemons moved from room to room. Hilarious!

  9. I am in awe of your productivity and energy Penny! You are really rocking the house. The bath looks so much better a light color and I have always loved that red comforter and the checked quilt. It's great that you can use them in the new house:>)

  12. I love the new paint color- and the name!! What a huge difference already! I never understand why people paint bathrooms so dark, with no windows! I would feel like I was in a cave. I love how light and bright all of your rooms are. So beautiful!

Your studio floor is BEAUTIFUL! I love it! I also love the built-ins at the end of the room. Swoon! I can not wait to see it finished!

I do projects the same way- multiple projects going at the same time. It drives my husband crazy but I thrive on it!

    Blessings,
    Heather:)

  17. Penny,I wish I had thought to pre-drill the holes for the cloves. I haven't made the oranges in years. My poor fingers!!! I might make some more, now. I have wooden skewers, that should work for "drilling".

I love the new color of the bathroom. Everytime I come here, I am inspired!

  18. "Steamed Milk" sounds like the perfect shade for these chilly nights. I love hot milk before bed when I'm not feeling so great. Fighting off a cold/sinus with stiff neck - gotta be well for Fri. when we fly to the North Pole, ha! ha!

Thinking of you and K and wishing you a wonderful Christmas - with a break from painting hopefully!!

  19. Well, that "To Do" list gets smaller and smaller. Your and your husband should feel so proud of yourself for what you have accomplished in a few short months.

    Have a lovely night.
