The Master Bath Finished

The master bath is finished. So I wanted to share with you how beautiful it turned out! You can see my inspiration pictures in this post, here.

Fair warning - there are A LOT of pictures to follow. The first FOUR pictures are BEFORE AND DURING. I wanted to remind you what it looked like when we purchased it. Remember we had to gut it because there was a major water leak in the shower and the entire bath floor needed to be replace.

And now for the AFTER pictures.
As you can see, I decided to use simple white drapes on the leaded glass window. I didn't want to loose any of the beauty of the window with blinds. The space on either side of the window was too small to stack shutters.
The matching vanities below have Carrera marble counter tops. I purchased some marble knobs and replaced the standard metal ones the vanities came with. Originally I wanted to place a taller cabinet between the two sinks, but there wasn't enough room. I like the simplicity of this, though and am glad there was not enough room.
The vintage smoking stand next to the tub, I have had for years. It was the inspiration for the dark stained cabinets and marble tops.

My vintage chandie, hanging over my tub...love this!

We made the stock (from Lowe's) cabinets look more custom, with the marble tops, knobs and by attaching the towel bars to the sides of the vanities instead of the wall.

Some Close Up Shots of the Details

I love the way this bath turned out. Tonight I am going to break in that tub!
Welcome Home,
Penny

  28. Penny: They say that God is in the details. You certainly hit it right on the mark with this makeover. I'm certainly going to remember your subway tiles when I re-do my downstairs bathroom. It's small but like you have taught us, you can borrow ideas from other sources and make them your own.

  36. Hello Penny, your bathroom is simply gorgeous. I love everything you have done. The curtains for the stained glass window is the perfect answer. I am going to copy cat your idea. My bathroom has not been decorated and I am anxious to start after the holidays. I want a chandelier over my tub and I need to have it wired. Why didn't I think of that when the house was built???

I scrolled down to see what I have missed. Your workroom floor looks terrific. The space is large and perfect for what you do. I don't envy you unloading those boxes. God luck with that.

The guest bath is much better in white. It will look great when you are done. You have really worked very hard with so much going on Penny.

Thank you for your comment on my Christmas decor. No wonder you haven't done too much, how could you with so many projects going on. Next year you will enjoy the Christmas holiday in your newly decorated home. (and renovated)

    Hugs, Jeanne

  38. My first reaction was Wow! Your bathroom is just beautiful and so serene. You must be so proud of what you and your husband have accomplished in such a short amount of time.

I love the way that you framed the window with the drapes. I, also, think the two cabinets look more custom than if you had one long cabinet with two sinks.
