Master Bedroom Bit by Bit

Remember, here, when I did a post on some of my Dream Master Bedrooms? Well, I am not anywhere near achieving my dream bedroom YET...but bit by bit I am working on it.

I now have a full gathered bed skirt (Pottery Barn), in white. A fluffy down alternative comforter (Bed Bath and Beyond) and my toile quilt (Pottery Barn).

Still no head board, curtains, lampshades or proper nightstands.

HOWEVER, I do have this marvelous old carved mirror....remember in some of my inspiration photos on this post, the mirrors used as headboards? I don't think I can do that, but I can get a similar feel with this mirror. More later...

Welcome Home,
Penny

Oh, Penny. It looks dreamy already. What a showplace you are creating. Most people live with unemptied boxes for a year, and your place is already decorated.

Hi Penny,
Oh I love how your Master Bedroom is turning out. Its so fresh and pretty. I know what you mean about all the boxes lighting comes in. Your Chandelier over the dinning room table is so perfect with your french country look. I can't wait to see more. Isn't it wonderful to have a husband who "likes to help".
Enjoy your day,
Big hugs,
Elizabeth

I have seen the bedrooms in your previous house and I know when you are finished this will be beautiful. Gorgeous yellow toile! I like that it isn't the usual black or red, even though I love those colors. The mirror looks wonderful, I can't wait to see what you do with it:>)

You are doing a great job, Penny and I think it's wonderful how you are using your pictures for inspiration. It is so much more organized that just window shopping. And I LOVE the yellow paint. It is turning into my NEW color!! And I love the toile comforter. Nice to see toile in something other than red, blue or black.

Just beautiful!!

O, Penny, I am just beside myself for all this to come together! It is looking so pretty, I don't know what to do...you are creating your dream home and not many of us ever get to do that. CONGRATULATIONS on a job that is looking mighty fine, dear friend. I am totally in love with that comforter....

Penny-You are working so hard and it is all coming together beautifully! That mirror would be a showstopper headboard. I like the round table beside the bed. I also love the covered table in the Better Homes picture in the inspirtation pictures. Good luck and keep us posted!

I love those two bedrooms with the mirrors above the bed. I can't wait to see what you're going to do.

I have a question. Is the down alternative comforter as light as a down comforter or is it heavy like polyfil? I've been thinking about getting one, but what I like about down is how feather light it is.

Good morning Penny. WOW, I am loving the bedding. The yellow toile quilt is beautiful. LOVE that toile.

My grandmother of very little means, on my dad's side, had toile wallpaper on her dining room walls. I use the term dining room loosely. She lived in a true little cottage and the main part of her cottage was all one room. The paper was only on the wall behind her table. I remember studying the paper and loving it. She only had one set of dishes and they were Fiesta Ware. As a kid, those dishes were the most fun with all the colors and I loved them too. I guess I loved decorating even then.

Boy did I get carried away. Hope it didn't bore you. That memory just popped up. Smile.

Your bedroom is going to be gorgeous. I am intrigued by the mirror.

Happy decorating Penny.

Hugs xoxo, Jeanne

I am so loving catching up with you and seeing all you have been doing! I have been such a bad blog frined of late I know...but I think about you so often. I know it is a lot of work re doing a home but I know you are enjoying the process. It is a joy to watch it and see all your hard work create something so wonderful.
Bill and I plan to finally get down South by Spring. It has been impossible for him to take a day off since he changed over to the gov't office. When we went to Chicago we had to leave after worl riday and be home Sun. evening! Whew. I don;t want to do that when we go South. : ) So he is saving days...
Now I am off to look through more of your posts!!

Sending lots of love and hugs your way.

Hi Penny,
Your bedroom is coming along so nicely. The comforter is beautiful. I love the toile,(my daughter's room is done up with it in lavender and cream, with ticking stripes as well.) So pretty, each piece tells it's own story! And I love the color of yours, it looks like apricot, how soothing.
I envy your new-to-you house with all the projects ahead of you - how fun!
Stop by sometime for a visit!

Penny with the talent that you have, I can see the created headboard in your mind! If I can see it, so can you! My sister once made the greatest headboard from an old oversized door...I hope you'll make your own, too! Can't wait to see it...
