In the photo below, you can see my version it it. After we bought this house in August, I went on EBAY and found some vintage ice skates. The garland is from the Christmas Tree farm we visited last week.

Here is a close up of the skates.

Yes, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here.
Welcome Home,
Penny

You are the best copy cat decorator I know! I always think I'm going to copy something that I see, then immediately it's gone from my brain.
What a beautiful re-creation! I used to have a pair of skates like that! :)
It looks just like your inspiration photo! Great job!!!
Looks great! Love it!
Well done! That looks beautiful.
I'll have to pull out my 45 year old skates and see what I can do with them......
How pretty! I love your floors and stairway too! I've been missing your posts. Need to go back and see what you've done with your new house!
This is beautiful!
Your stairway is beautiful, Penny!
Fabulous! Your stairs look so much like the BHG ones. I love the skates too. I just finished decorating some skates that my sister found at Goodwill for $2.99 (!) and setting them on my front porch. Then I came in and yours was the first post I saw. I had to smile. Great minds think alike:>)
You did a great job copying it! I love the skates. Would love to find some....
Can't wait to see more of your decorating!!
I like your skates better than the photo one!

Just perfect.

It looks beautiful, Penny! I love your red shoe laces. I found a pair of vintage ice skates after Christmas 2008 and put them on the porch through the winter. I hope to use them on one of the porches for Christmas.
You've inspired me!
Penny, I love that! I toldmy hubby in our next house I want a bannister!!!
Penny, this is so gorgeous. White skates, my favorite underneath the tree when I was eleven. I still get a thrill when I see white skates. So many years ago, who knows maybe those are my Vintage skates...tee hee.
Your home is lovely, and this was so close the one in the magazine, I had to take a double take.
Karen
Love it Ms Penny!!!! So Christmasy & looks just like the picture!!
LOVELY:)

Dear Penny, you did a great job getting the same look. I love those skates with the red laces and socks. It all looks beautiful. I know you are loving the new challenge of decorating. I scrolled down and the chandy's are a vast improvement over the existing lighting. It makes a wonderful difference, I love your choices. The kitchen is looking beautiful too. We arrived home late last night because of terrible holiday traffic. It is good to be home.
Happy decorating.
Hugs, Jeanne
very pretty... you know i saw some ice skates in a thrift store recently and something kept telling me to buy them, but I didn't!!!!! what a pretty decoration!
It looks beautiful, Penny! I love the vintage skates.

'IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS"................around your house Penny!
This looks amazing - and I agree your skates are even nicer.
Great job - even the wrapping paper is beautiful.
I have this same picture somewhere in my files and also here on my computer. Your version looks awesome! Love a beautiful staircase to decorate!
Oh, forgot to say I LOVE your header pictures! They make me smile when I go to your blog!
It's perfect!!
Outstanding decorating, Penny! What a great duplicate staircase. Did you plan it that way?
A perfect imitation! Isn't it great when you find something and are able to do it as well. I have notebooks stuffed with ideas that I'll never use but you never know . . . . It's hard to tell which is the magazine photo and which isyour staircase!
How cheerful! It looks like you could just grab them on your way out the door to go skating, minus the berries of course!
Hugs,
Dawn
OOO, PENNY...this is absolutely BEAUTIFUL...you copied JUST PERFECT!!
Since you AND Kathy are showing ice skates, I am DYING for a pair. Out here in West Texas where, first of all we have no bodies of water, and second, it seldom gets icy...so...there's no ice skates around....boo hoo...
You did a marvelous job!!
xo bj

Hi Penny...everyone is finding these great old skates....Yours are terrific, love the red laces..
Wow Penny! You do great work don'tcha? : )
I got a pair of skates like that...on ebay...had never been out of the box they came in! Mine are outdie, hanging on a vintage sled. I love yours with the red ribbon and toppers...just so pretty. No one does any better at decoratng for Christmas than our Penny!
Love,
Sue
LOVE this, Penny. I just finally found a pair of ice skates at a local flea antique shop this past fall and was able to hang them on a sled on my front porch. I love this idea, too! Did you had the red fuzzy stuff around the top of your skates or did they come that way? Is it a sock turned down...I can't tell...but I love the way it looks. I've also seen it with fur around the top.
Adding this to my inspiration file, too! :-) I'm so impressed with all the work you guys have done in your home, yourself!
