One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Did you ever have one of those days? You know, the one where you are ALWAYS in the wrong lane. The one where EVERY light turns red. The one where the store RUNS out of the product you need?

Well, I had one of those days. My day started out meeting our contractor at Home Depot at 8:30 to pick up a lot of supplies. We thought we got enough of everything. But after an hour or so working on the master bath, the contractor realized that we needed a couple more buckets of Thin Set. So off I went to the closest Lowe's....they didn't have it. The Home Depot is in my old town....to far away. So I picked up some more on my way home tonight.

Anyway, here is the current state of the master bath. The dry wall is up and the backer board is partially down on the floor.

We picked up this bead board this morning for the bottom half of the powder room walls.

I put the first coat of paint on my studio floor. Here is a picture of it half finished.

The first coat totally finished. What a difference. I am going to paint a harlequin pattern on the floor. Don't know if that will be finished before we move in or not. Fingers crossed.

Here is my master bedroom newly painted. The color is a golden yellow, called Belgian Waffle from Sherwin Williams. This is the same color that the great room, living room and dining room will be.

As you can see, my master bedroom is construction central....
How was your day? I hope it was wonderful!
Welcome Home,
Penny

  4. Penny,

Tomorrow will be a better day!!!

Love the yellow - we painted a majority of our house that similar shade of yellow and we love it! We are painting our wood trim and doors white, which looks fantastic combined with our yellow walls, blue and red accent colors.

I hadn't noticed the transcom window over your door until now - it's fabulous!

  7. Those day are fairly common, but they will pass once you have completed the dirty work! ;-)

Your studio floor looks terrific and iI wrote down the name of the yellow paint in your master. I was looking for something like this for our loft and a guest bedroom at the lake. It looks fabulous!

  10. I love the yellow. Thanks for putting the color name and brand. I'm looking for a yellow for a bedroom I want to re-do. I'm fussy about color and yellow is one of those colors that has to be just right, not to sunny, not too muddy.

  20. Fortunately, it wasn't a situation where the lack of thinset completely stopped all work for the day. Looks like there's plenty of other projects. And that you're making good progress on everything! Hang in there!

  23. Hi Penny, I know those kind of days! They're called RENOVATING!! yEP, life wasn't meant to be easy! Anyhow, I just love what you're doing to the house, love the floor in your studio, will look great with the harlequin design. Love the colour yellow on your walls. My walls are also yellow at the moment but I was thinking of painting them white, but may have to reconsider now! Love the bead board, I wonder what that's called here in Australia, wouldn't mind using that in my hallway. Your dry walls are called gyprock here.. funny isn't it! Thanks for leaving a comment on my last post, will be posting some pics today or tomorrow of the second stage of my courtyard makeover. I have visited your website and your creations are truly stunning! YOu are so very talented. Ok, better go and do some sewing!! bye for now, Maryann

  26. It looks like it is going to be beautiful! I thought abt Belgian Waffle for our home but ended up with Whole Wheat. It has a golden under tone but still neutral enough for the next set of owners. I can't wait to see everything all done!
