A Day Antiquing

On Tuesday I did two favorite things....I met another blogging friend and we went antiquing! Gretchen has a blog called Bird Nest Cottage. She lives in Greenville, SC and I live in Hendersonville NC. We are only about an hour away from each other. The first time we met was a few months ago. I drove to Greenville and we went antiquing. This time, I was the host and Gretchen came to my home town.
We started at one of my favorite places. I mean, with a name like NEEDFUL THINGS, how could you not want to shop there? It is two stories tall and filled with wonderful things.
Next, we went downtown for lunch at a great restaurant called Never Blue. They have tapas, salads, sandwiches soup and so much more. As you can see, we ran into some Red Hat ladies there.

I love their bar area. It is covered in mosaics! Click on the picture above to enlarge for detail.
Are you wondering what I bought while antiquing? My quest was for some blue covered vintage garden or flower books. Remember this post?

Well, I found some great ones and also some with red covers too!

Hope you all are having a great week!
Welcome Home,
Penny

  1. Penny,

I am so glad you & Gretchen had a great time together! I wish I had more blogger friends in the Midwest to meet up with sometime, but then again I have only been blogging a short time and I'm grateful for all of the friends I have made already.

Yes, you must have been in heaven in the restaurant bar area. It's very pretty. So happy to hear of your fun day antiquing in your hometown!

You are the 2nd person I have heard about entering the BH&G makeover. Gee, I just don't know which room needs one the most! :-)

    Have a great week!

Great shot of the red hat ladies. They always look they're having fun when they are out together.

I haven't been antiquing in a long time, and I think a trip is definitely in order.

Glad you had fun! NC is a fun place to shop!

  8. Penny! You sweetheart..how in the world are you?! Looks like you are pretty darned good by the photo's.
Nice picture of the Red Hat luncheon. I adore those hats they wear. I don't belong but I should. Perhaps I'll look into it. Have been invited but never did it. But......I want one of those red hats!!! Lets see, where would I wear it??

Books. My home would not be a home without them..or my grandfather clock and piano. How I dearly love taking care of a home.
May the road rise to meet you my friend.

  11. Penny I had to laugh when I read “I love the bar area’ but then I read on to see it was the mosaic that caught your eye …
What a fun day you had and I love the books.
When I go out to look for antique book, I always look for bookplates and odd titles.

I hope I am not wrong about this but I would love to be included in your give-a-way. If I am, silly me.

I am attempting to E-mail you about your tray. If I can't figure it out please E-mail me. Thanks. I am computer challenged even though I hate to admit it. Smile. jeav@earthlink.net

  15. Hi Penny! What a fun day you must have had! Oh, I love that place - well, I've not been there, but I know I would! Now about your books - they're so nice, but what I really like is that chickie figurine on top! That's the cutest little thing.
Thanks for popping in to see my groovy tablescape! ;)
    Be a sweetie,

  16. I just have to come your way soon Penny - that shop looks great and the pretty cafe/bar is awesome - to think someone took time to mosaic an entire bar, wow! Perhaps you could travel the country doing something like that - ha! ha!

Love the books you found for your ever growing collection.

I met a lovely new friend for lunch yesterday also - she doesn't blog herself, but does sell antiques/vintage at a local place where she has a booth. She recognized me from my blog which she follows, at a grocery store at Christmas, and we planned a get-together! What friendly fun our blogs have brought to our lives!!!

Thank you so much for your kind comment today. I feel life is more special because of art and creativity. Everyone has some hidden away inside, they just need to let it surface and then embrace it for the joy it brings.

    Warm hugs - Mary.
