Some Things I want To Do This Year

See this armoire? It is oak...See the dresser on the left? I bought that at an antique store in Asheville several years ago. I painted it a wonderful creamy white. The armoire is next. Only I think I might do a little something extra with it. It is one of the make overs I plan on working on this year. Hopefully in the next week or so I will get started on it. I will post step by step pics when I start.

Of course, after the armoire is painted, then I have to painted my headboard and foot board....
Welcome Home,
Penny

I wish I could do this! I have this thing for dark wood and just cant paint my furniture. I have bought painted items and then stripped them only to find the real reason they were painted in the first place...LOL Be sure to post pictures when you get them.

Lorri

Oh, my gosh! You are a brave soul. I know if you do it will turn out beautiful. But, I could never.. bring myself to paint that awesome piece of furniture. I just remember all of the stripping of furniture we use to do to get a nice wood finish. I must be old fashion. But, I just couldn't!! I can't wait to see it!

I can see that armoire painted and I know that you will make it look wonderful. I think I am going to have to paint my bedroom suite too.
I really love how relaxed white or creamy colors make you feel.
We also have the same taste in chandeliers. I put one in my shabby old house bath too. I love it.

That's the way it goes...you do one thing and that leads to another and another and another. Before you know it the whole room looks totally different! :-) And that's the fun of it!

Hi Peny
I like the lines of the armoire and I'm sure it will look great painted. I have a couple of things needing painting, but not until I finish 2 quilts I am trying to get done for our guild quilt show in March.
Hope you have a happy day.

It is a beautiful piece of wood -- why cover it with paint? I would just mosaic inside the framed door openings but why cover up pretty wood? Natural wood tones are pretty!

Your armoire is gorgeous! I would be so scared to paint it, but that is wimpy me...after you finish revamping it, I've no doubt it will be even more gorgeous! I love to live vicariously through all of you creative and daring deocorators! :-)

Penny, looks like a lot of us are in project mode these days! I've got a list a mile long. Your furniture will be pretty painted.

Love your chandy too. I'm highly considering putting 2 small ones in my master bath to replace the flushmount ones.

Hi Penny, I just scrolled down to your bath post too. I want to hang a lovely chandelier over my garden tub. I believe it adds so much to the atmosphere and ambiance. I love taking a long hot bath with bath salts too. Then the hard part! Getting out of the tub. LOL.

I love your armoire. I have a hard time painting wood but I know when you finish it will be lovely. It will add to your cottage decor as well. I am looking forward to seeing this makeover.

Thanks for your visits and comments. I love hearing from you.

Have a wonderful evening.

Ooooh, I have one of these and can't wait to see what YOU do with yours! I have been an 'oak' person in the past and now like a little pine, but more distressed and painted.
