A Little Glam in the Bath

I love taking baths. It is a great way to pamper yourself. If you have a regular ceiling light in your bathroom, I highly recommend switching it out for a chandelier dripping with gorgeous prisms. If you have it on a dimmer switch, you will have bright enough light for task lighting and you can turned them down low for a relaxing bath. Below is the chandie I have in my master bathroom. It is not a vintage chandelier, but it has a vintage French look. You can click on the picture to enlarge.

For MY perfect bath, I light the candles and turn the chandelier dimmer on low. Some soft music and a little lavender bath salts sprinkled into the bath water and I am in heaven.

  3. Beautiful! I don't think my ceilings are high enough to have a chandy in my bathroom. But I think all lights should have dimmers!

  4. Very elegant! I love chandeliers in bathrooms. We have one in our downstairs powder room, and I found it on sale locally... it's a Tracey Porter, and I love looking at it. It is painted in wonderful colors, and up inside, it has the most amusing design. I smile every time I see it. I think I would be smiling with yours, too, Penny!

  11. I still say we have EVERYTHING in common! My luxury is a nice bubble bath with low light, or candles and maybe some Norah Jones...and lavender of course! I am looking for a small chandelier to put over the big tub in our house in FL! Love your home and decorating expertise!

  12. Take a bath? Gads all mighty, how I wish I could take a bath. I can only shower because I wouldn't be able to get up out of that bath if I were to lay down in it. Man, what I would give for a bath. How sweet it is. Lucky you Penny. Have a great evening.

  23. First, we do not have a dog. That dog is so cute! I would love to have one just like it. They are a lot of work, but also a lot of fun! It seems like you are leaning towards getting one. The chandelier is beautiful. I wish we had a place for one.

  26. What an elegant idea! I might have to try it.....I LOVE baths, ADORE 'em! :) I just don't take enough of them. I used to manage a Crabtree and Evelyn in California and always came home smelling to clean. I loved it. :)

  27. Hi a first time visitor. I adore chanddliers, I have several but they need some TLC so they are not up. I dream of them hanging in my bedroom, bath, and I even have one for my back yard playhouse. Your bathroom is lovely. I hate mine. But that is another story. TTFN P.S I like your music.

  28. Ooh, I love this.

About the sweet potatoes - I have used baked or canned. If you used boiled or can, be certain to let them drain well to get the extra moisture out of them.

Let me know if you like these.

  29. Stacey at Poofing the Pillows steered me your way, and I'm so glad she did! I love your header photo, the chandelier, and your idea of getting a golden doodle! We have a golden retriever, and the groomer that does her also does a golden doodle (male). I think Abby and Buck have a thing going, lol, they like to flirt, and I'm convinced that the fact that their appt.'s are scheduled on the same day is no coincidence! LOL! Happy Tuesday!

  39. Hi Penny -
I love the look of the chandie and the decor in your bathroom. I'd love to do the same but we have one bathroom in the main part of the house and a half bath off the laundry room and garage. Our little bathroom is too small, and the ceilings too low, for a chandie. I, too, love long, relaxing baths. I add lavendar salts to my tub, light candles, put on soft music and relax - sometimes. Other times I just add the bath salts, lean back on the bath pillow and read for awhile. Last night I fell asleep and dropped my book in the water! Fortunately it was a 25 cent thrift store book and is still readable! Someday I hope to have a bathroom with a chandy and a whirlpool tub.
